TSMC profits rise 58.3 % to record in first quarter

Hsinchu, Taiwan, Apr 16 (EFE/EPA).- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, reported first-quarter profits of 572.48 billion Taiwan dollars (18.15 billion US dollars), up 58.3 percent year-on-year, the company said on Thursday.

The figure beat market expectations and marked the ninth consecutive quarter of profit growth, setting a new record for the Taiwanese tech giant. (Camera: RITCHIE TONGO).
