Spain heritage group calls to save ancient cactus in Seville

SEVILLE, Apr 12 (EFE).— A 1,500-year-old cardón cactus in Seville, measuring 15 metres and weighing 18 tonnes, is facing deterioration decades after being gifted for Expo 92.

The plant, originally a gift from Mexico, is reportedly in poor condition partly due to urban changes around its location.

A heritage group has called for urgent action to preserve the cactus and prevent its loss. (Camera: FERMÍN CABANILLAS).
