Paraguay proudly celebrates its vori vori, considered the “best soup in the world”

Asunción, Apr. 14 (EFE).- Hundreds of vori vori enthusiasts gathered this Tuesday in the capital of this South American country to sample the dish, a thick broth representative of Paraguayan cuisine, which they proudly dubbed the “best soup in the world” after the gastronomic encyclopedia ‘Taste Atlas’ recognized it as such for two consecutive years.

On Palma Street, the most popular street in Asunción’s historic center, cooks worked feverishly to serve 400 portions of this soup made with chicken or diced meat, vegetables, and cornmeal dumplings—the ingredient that, in the Guaraní language, gives the dish its name: vori vori, or “little ball, little ball.”
