New Delhi, Apr 16 (EFE).- India’s Parliament began a three-day special session on Thursday to debate a constitutional reform that seeks to double the number of seats and reserve 33 percent for women, a proposal the opposition says could alter the country’s balance of power.

The government plan would increase the lower house (Lok Sabha) from 543 to 850 seats, which, if approved, would make it the largest directly elected chamber in the world.
