Mexico presents in New York a Mayan lintel of “inestimable value” recovered in the U.S.

Diego Sandoval, legal director of the Mexican Consulate in New York, speaks during a press conference about the recovery of an artifact from the Mesoamerican Classic Period (600–900 AD) in New York, United States, 16 April 2026. The Mexican Consulate in New York presented, for the first time, an archaeological artifact of “inestimable value” that was stolen from Mexico years ago and, after passing through Europe, arrived in New York, where a businessman handed it over to Consul Marcos Bucio.
