Hormuz disruption raises fears of jet fuel shortages in Europe
LONDON (United Kingdom), 17/04/2026.- A British Airways plane gets ready to take off from London City Airport in east London, Britain, 17 April 2026. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted a key supply route from the Gulf, a major source of jet fuel for Europe, and International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director Fatih Birol has warned that Europe could run out of jet fuel in “six weeks or so” if the disruption continues.
